Uwe studies the impact of technological change on the economy, in particular on income inequality and employment – as well as implications for policy. He is being supervised by research fellows Bas Jacobs (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and Björn Brugemann (VU Amsterdam). Uwe is a TI MPhil alumnus (cum laude, 2013). He expects to defend his dissertation in the fall.
Uwe won the 2018 Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Award for the best paper with his research on the optimal taxation of robots.
