Meet the Lecturers for Sustainable Finance

Sustainable Finance


Remco Zwinkels is Professor of International Finance and head of the Finance Department at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Before starting at the VU Amsterdam, he was assistant professor in international finance as well as the head of the finance group at the Erasmus School of Economics. He holds a MSc in monetary economics from the Erasmus University, an MPhil in Economics from the Tinbergen Institute, and a PhD in Economics from the Radboud University Nijmegen. His main research interest lies in the field of sustainable and behavioral finance, and expectation formation in particular. Remco is a certified teacher and has taught a large number of courses, and won the SBE Senior Teaching award.

Rex Wang is an Associate Professor of Finance at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research interests include behavioral finance, corporate finance and governance, and ESG investing, and his work has been featured in Financial Times and Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance. He holds a BSc and MSc in Econometrics from Erasmus University, and PhD in Finance from the same institution.

Marco Ceccarelli is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He obtained his Ph.D. in finance from the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) at the University of Zurich. His research focuses on sustainable and climate finance, focusing on investments. Through empirical and experimental studies, he strives to understand better what role finance and financial institutions can play in society and how societal challenges affect economic actors like retail investors or mutual fund managers.
