Climate change has intensified the frequency and severity of natural disasters, posing significant risks to economies and financial systems. For banks, these events reduce the value of collateral, increase borrower default risks, and disrupt credit flows. While extensive research has explored natural disasters' impacts on bond and stock markets, the specific effects on bank lending behavior remain underexplored, especially in Europe. This study investigates the impact of natural disasters on bank lending behavior in the European Union.
