Abstract
Two papers are reported in the seminar, which investigate the effects of communication on trading behavior and asset pricing in experimental asset markets that are known to be prone to mispricing. We investigate different forms of communication, including free-form chat and structured communication of beliefs, under varying group compositions and incentive schemes. In the free-form chat treatments, participants communicated either with friends or with anonymously assigned group members, with some treatments additionally involving price predictions. While communication does not reduce mispricing, it influences trading activity and the formation of expectations.
