About
Susan Athey is the Economics of Technology Professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Stanford University. She is also the Founding Director of the Golub Capital Social Impact Lab at Stanford, which uses technology and social science to improve the effectiveness of social sector organizations. Athey is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and served as the Chief Economist for the Antitrust Division at the United States Department of Justice from 2022 to 2024.
Athey is the first female winner of the John Bates Clark Medal in 2007. She taught the Tinbergen Institute Econometrics Lectures in 2009.
