PhD Job Market Jamboree 2025
The 2025 PhD Job Market Jamboree will be held on May 19 at Tinbergen Institute Amsterdam.The Jamboree is the main event to gain insights into the academic job market and receive constructive feedback from a faculty discussant and more experienced PhDs.
Call for Papers
The submission deadline for the PhD Jamboree has been extended to Sunday, April 27 — a few spots for presenters are still open! All (early and late-stage) PhD students from the UvA, VU, and EUR are highly encouraged to submit their work-in-progress papers.
Presentations are 30 minutes, followed by a 10-minute discussion led by a faculty member (if applicable), and 5 minutes of questions from the audience.

To submit your paper, please email your title, abstract, and - if you want - two suggested discussants (who should preferably not be affiliated with your own university) by 23:59 on April 27 to: s.avdeev@uva.nl and s.de.vries@vu.nl. Presenters are expected to provide a full draft by May 5 for review by their discussants.
Job Market Sessions
Informative talks on the academic job market are part of the program:
- Placement Director Eric Bartelsman will discuss the job market process.
- Erik Plug will talk about hiring job market candidates.
- Yasmine van der Straten, Job Market Candidate alumna, will share her student perspective on the job market experience.
PhD students planning to enroll in the Tinbergen Institute Job Market Support Program 2025-2026 are strongly advised to attend all three sessions.
