PhD student Wenqian Huang wins young economists’competition at ECB Forum

PhD student Wenqian Huang won the young economists’ competition at the ECB Forum on Central Banking in Sintra, Portugal.

The ECB Forum on Central Banking is an annual event organized by the European Central Bank. As part of the forum, the ECB offers preselected PhD students in economics or finance the opportunity to share their research at the ECB Forum on Central Banking and win €10,000. A selection committee, comprising senior ECB staff and prominent external academics, evaluates the submissions to determine the winning paper or poster. Additionally, conference participants contribute to the final selection by anonymously rating the posters online.

The 'Young Economist Prize' research competition offers talented students the chance to share their fresh perspectives on today’s challenges.

About winner Wenqian Huang

Wenqian Huang graduated cum laude from Tinbergen Institute's Research Master's Program in 2012 and is currently a PhD at the Department of Finance at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam under the supervision of Research Fellow Albert Menkveld. Wenqian was a TI job market candidate 2016/2017 and will start as an Economist at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in October.
