Placement Sander de Vries: University of Technology Sydney
Sander de Vries has accepted a position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia, starting as of July 2026.
Sander is currently a PhD candidate in applied microeconomics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Tinbergen Institute under supervision of research fellows Maarten Lindeboom and Nadine Ketel.
His research focuses on Intergenerational Mobility and the Economics of Education. He typically uses large administrative datasets in combination with causal inference or machine learning techniques to answer relevant questions in these areas.
In January and February 2025, he visited the Centre of Economic Performance (CEP) at the London School of Economics. Sander's research has been featured frequently in several Dutch media outlets and been included in policy reports.
Sander is a Tinbergen Institute research master alumnus (2022).
