Inaugural Lecture Martijn van den Assem

Fellow Martijn van den Assem will give his inaugural lecture entitled ‘Choices in the wild’ (original title: Keuzes in het wild) as professor of Finance at the School of Business and Economics, VU Amsterdam on Thursday, September 21. The inaugural lecture is scheduled at 15:45 at the Aula, VU Amsterdam. Note: the entire inaugural lecture will be in Dutch.

Abstract

Behavioral-economics insights largely derive from laboratory experiments, and critics of this relatively new sub-discipline of economics therefore doubt its applicability in the real world. Martijn van den Assem studies economic behavior in the wild, using real-life settings that have attractive features from a research perspective. One such setting is provided by some TV game shows.
