Alumnus Andrea Titton EAERE Best Doctoral Dissertation Awardee 2026

The annual EAERE Award for Best Doctoral Dissertations in Environmental and Resource Economics recognises three early-career researchers.

For his dissertation, “Economic Consequences of Environmental Catastrophes”, Andrea Titton examines the far-reaching economic impacts of environmental catastrophes, with a particular focus on climate tipping points and the macroeconomic risks associated with climate change. His research combines theoretical modelling with quantitative analysis, employing advanced stochastic methods to assess complex climate–economy dynamics and the uncertainties surrounding future environmental change. By exploring how climate risks can affect economic systems and decision-making, his work contributes to a deeper understanding of the challenges posed by the green transition and long-term climate impacts. Currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bologna, Andrea’s research bridges climate risk, firms’ expectations, and environmental macroeconomics, providing valuable insights for both economic theory and climate policy.

Andrea obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam and the Tinbergen Institute in 2025, under the supervision of research fellows Florian Wagener and Cees Diks. He is also an alumnus of the Tinbergen Institute’s Research Master programme in Economics (2021).
