New Candidate Fellow: Harald Puhr

He holds a PhD in Economics and Social Sciences from WU Vienna, Austria. Prior to joining Amsterdam Business School, he was an Assistant Professor of International Management at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

He is the coordinator of the EU HORIZON project VALPOP (Valuing Public Goods in a Populist World) and a research fellow at the Wharton Impact, Value, and Sustainable Business Initiative.

His research examines how firms navigate global markets under heightened geopolitical, political, and environmental uncertainty, with a particular focus on socio-political risk, firm–state relations, and how artificial intelligence augments strategic decision-making. Methodologically, his work often combines theory with data-driven approaches to better understand internationalization, corporate resilience, and strategic responses to disruption.

His research has appeared in outlets such as Journal of World Business, Global Strategy Journal, and Journal of International Management, and has received recognition through multiple conference awards and nominations.
