Fellow Bas van der Klaauw has received a Vici grant from NWO

Research fellow Bas van der Klaauw has been awarded a Vici grant of 1.5 million euro from NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) for his research project ‘Improving Human Capital by Allocating Individuals Efficiently to Schools and Jobs’. The funding will enable him to do research for the next five years. Bas is professor of Economics at the VU University Amsterdam, and affiliated to TI and the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Abstract
Mismatch in education or on the labour market has consequences for the acquisition of human capital. Governments implement policy to prevent this. The first objective is to carefully evaluate the effectiveness of this policy. The second objective is to use this policy evaluation to propose improvements.

Vici grants are awarded to excellent scientists and is, along with Veni and Vidi, part of NWO’s Talent Scheme. Vici is one of the largest grants for individual scientists in the Netherlands. The Vici grants are awarded by NWO on a science-wide basis.
