The jury believes that the winning thesis has the potential to be published in a top field journal, such as the Journal of Public Economics. The Jan Brouwer thesis award, funded by Jan Brouwer Fund, was first awarded in 2015, and is issued by the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (KHMW). Annually seven prizes of € 2000 are awarded in different fields within the social sciences.
