PhD alumnus Didier Nibbering awarded the Christiaan Huygens Science Award
On 11 October 2021, Nibbering was granted a bronze statue and a cash prize of 10,000 euros by Ingrid van Engelshoven, the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science.
According to the Chair of the jury, professor Philip Hans Franses, Nibbering was awarded the prize because his dissertation is "highly developed in terms of quality and content ... well-written and distinctive because of the clear theorization and impressive in the original way of thinking".
Amongst the nominees was another Tinbergen Institute alumnus, dr. Merrick Li.
