Tinbergen Institute students win the National Economics Olympiad 2022

The annual National Economics Olympiad (NEO) gather teams from economic programs across the Netherlands to compete for the title of best economic students. From the many applications, a few teams are selected to participate. NEO offers a tough competition with challenging problems posed by Dutch top economists.

Our research master's students also performed very well in the 2022 edition, finishing in first and second place again.

The winning team consisted of first year students Ming Cheng, Maartje van Wijhe, and Sijmen Rijks (photo). Second place was taken by second year students Evgenii Ivanov, Josha Dekker, Niels Marijnen.

The NEO Keynote lecture of this year's edition was delivered by Kurt Richard Brekke (Norwegian School of Economics (NHH)) on "Economics of Covid-19.”
