The Chair focuses on the development and application of models in the field of macro-finance and corresponding econometric methods that best take advantage of the model structure and data characteristics. Several of the developments can also be applied to other fields within economics, such as the (broader) fields of financial economics and macroeconomics.

Michel van der Wel joined the Department of Econometrics at Erasmus School of Economics in September 2008 as an assistant professor on a tenure track. He received tenure at the level of Associate Professor in January 2014. Michael published in academic journals, such as the Economic Journal, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
