Fellow Casper de Vries Advisory Member WRR

Fellow Casper de Vries has been appointmented as advisory member of the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR). Casper de Vries’ appointment will start on of January 1, 2015. Members of the WRR are appointed by the Council of Ministers and nominated by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

The Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) is an independent advisory body for the Dutch government. The task of the WRR is to advise the government on issues that are of great importance for society. Unlike other advisory bodies, the WRR is not tied to a single policy sector. Rather, its reports go beyond individual sectors; they are concerned with the direction of government policy for the longer term. The WRR is strongly rooted in the world of science and is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach. Council members are also employed as university professors, and as consequence the latest scientific insights in various fields readily find their way into WRR reports.

Casper de Vries is Professor of Monetary Economics at the Erasmus School of Economics (EUR). He is also an alternate member of The Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER).
