In memoriam Herman K. van Dijk (1946-2025)

We mourn the loss of Herman van Dijk, Honorary fellow, former Board member and Director of Tinbergen Institute. Herman passed away on January 24, 2025. 

In memoriam Herman K. van Dijk (1946-2025)

Herman has been a dedicated member of the Tinbergen Institute from its inception, serving both as a Board member and as Director from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2008 to 2010 In recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was awarded the Tinbergen Institute Medal in 2011. 

Even after his retirement, Herman van Dijk remained a steadfast supporter and promoter of the Tinbergen Institute, leveraging his extensive global network of renowned scholars. Through his efforts, multiple Nobel laureates visited the Tinbergen Institute over the past decades to deliver lecture series and participate in our conferences. 

We will always remember Herman for his boundless energy, unwavering optimism, and relentless dedication to Tinbergen Institute and to us personally.
