Chen Li appointed as Professor of Behavioural Economics
As of 1 June 2023, research fellow Chen Li has been appointed as Professor of Behavioural Economics at the Erasmus School of Economics. In her research, Li focuses on decision making under uncertainty and over time.
Li, who works in the Applied Economics department, investigates how (well) people deal with uncertainty, especially in situations called ambiguity, where probabilities of events are unknown. She addresses questions such as whether the poor are more averse to ambiguity, how learning affect people's ambiguity attitudes, and how people's beliefs and attitudes towards uncertainty affect their decisions in social interactions. So far, Chen li has published thirteen articles in nine different journals, including Econometrica, Journal of Economic Theory, Management Science, European Economic Review, Experimental Economics, and Games and Economic Behavior.
About Chen Li
Chen Li holds a BSc in Financial Engineering from Beihang University, China, and an MSc in Stochastics and Financial Mathematics (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam. She received her PhD degree in March 2015 from Erasmus University Rotterdam and Tinbergen Institute, under the supervision of Professors Aurélien Baillon, Han Bleichrodt, and Peter Wakker. In 2019, Li was granted with both an EUR Fellowship (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and a Veni grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.
